~ Phoenix Phact #1  Level Funding is different than Level Service.
Here's how...

Level funding means that we will be funded with the same amount of money as the previous year.

Level service means that we receive enough funds to be able to keep the same number of staff and programs as the previous year.

Why isn't level funding enough? Because costs increase. The price of utilities, transportation, salaries, etc, all increase due to inflation, contracts, cost of living.

A level service budget will still not be enough to restore the cuts in programs and staff that we have experienced in the past 5 years.

•  Massachusetts major program of state aid to local and regional school districts is Chapter 70 funding.
